UMPhysicians Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider - Surgical/Clinical in Woodbury, Minnesota

The Surgical Physician Assistant / Family Nurse Practitioner is a member of the health care team who works with the supervision of licensed surgeon(s) to provide comprehensive health care services to Orthopedic patients. Full time position This position includes surgical and clinical time. The APP is anticipated to have regular, independent clinic at 1-2 sites. First Assist Certification required. This position may work at limited satellite clinics or hospitals. This position involves occasional inpatient rounding as needed. Flexibility and adaptability is a must in this position. The APP will engage in independent decision making about health care needs and provide orthopedic health care services to individuals throughout the stages of their surgical experience. The APP will perform pre-operative and post-operative physical and psychological health assessments, provide patient education and counseling, order and interpret diagnostic procedures, assists surgeons in major and minor procedures, and works as part of a team in the inpatient and outpatient setting to ensure ongoing management of chronic disease conditions. APP's also perform minor surgical procedures within their scope and realm of their practice agreement with their supervising physician(s). We're Looking For a PA or NP Who Is: A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner training program. Minimum of 1 year of APP experience preferred. Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP. Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP's). Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
