What you’ll be doing

As a member of the Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) Capital Markets Communications team, you will be responsible for supporting corporate-level communications to team members and clients for Capital Markets as the business focuses on growth through a differentiated, client-focused strategy.

Specifically, you will coordinate and execute communication activities and work with the broader team on the delivery of key accountabilities. You will write, edit, plan events, develop general and specific intranet content, presentations, speeches, press releases and other related communication activities.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Communications – You understand how to translate business strategy into engaging content for an internal audience, to keep the Capital Markets team engaged in the growth momentum we have across our business, and getting that message to stakeholders across our bank to help drive connectivity.

  • Public Affairs – You’ll rely on your experience in external communications to support engagement with media and other external stakeholders, including drafting media materials, speaking points, and assessing opportunities alongside senior members of the team.

  • Reputation and Brand Management – You proactively gather facts and apply client-focus and solid judgment in helping respond to media inquiries and enterprise-wide and/or line of business reputational issues.

Who you are

  • You have solid experience in communicating with internal audiences through a broad platform such as Workplace by Meta. You have experience with external communications to help you make recommendations and deliver strong tactical execution of key materials. You can write compelling communications clearly and concisely, and demonstrate excellent editing and proofreading skills. It’s an asset if you have experience in and/or knowledge of banking and its diversified client segments.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Journalism, Communications or related study and/or equivalent experience.
