Description Senior Telemetry Technician @ Swedish First Hill Full Time (36 Hour Week) Night Shift 12 Hour Shifts The monitor tech II (MT) is responsible for continuously monitoring patients via telemetry of oxygen saturation (Sp02) levels and/or electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm on patients from a remote workstation located in the TeleICU Clinical Operations Room (COR) or other nursing units. The Monitor Tech communicates all concerns to staff registered nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse. Utilizes TeleICU RN (tRN) as a resource. If the MT is unable to reach the bedside RN in a timely manner, the MT may escalate the concern by calling the charge nurse, Rapid Response Team or Code Blue per unit procedure. Additionally, the MT provides clerical support to the workflows of the TeleICU clinical staff (tMD and tRN), assists and participates with the orientation of new MT and nursing staff, and other duties as assigned. For monitoring oxygen saturation, the MT notifies the bedside RN of significant changes of the patients trending Sp02, which may include trending of the pulse rate and trending of acoustic respiratory rate (RRA). The MT is responsible for alarm management in collaboration with nursing: setting low/high rate alarms and assuring that alarms are on at all times. For monitoring ECG rhythm of cardiac patients, the MT notifies rhythm changes to the RN. The MT documents the ECG rhythm and any significant rhythm changes per unit protocol. The MT is responsible for alarm management in collaboration with nursing: setting heart rate alarms and adjusting arrhythmia detection criteria as appropriate for each patient, and assuring that alarms are on at all times. For both SPO2 and ECG, the MT notifies staff of low battery alerts, network connectivity, any interference of the signal, equipment malfunction, etc. The MT is responsible for documenting initiation and discontinuation of Sp02, RRA, ECG monitoring in the TeleICU Log, as well as reporting quality variances and all safety concerns. In addition to monitoring patients, the MT is responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties supporting TeleICU activities such as facilitation of the physician/RN triage model for remote management of TeleICU patients; data collection and processing; and conducting patient safety auditing and patient rounds using various computer applications. The MT assists the nursing staff in coordinating the workflow of the unit. The MT organizes and oversees the orderliness of work areas and orders forms and other clerical supplies. Reports equipment or software issues to appropriate department. Furthermore, the MT interacts with physicians, nurses, HUCs, and other hospital staff and acts as a liaison among members of the health care team.
