Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced technology PR expert to join its Industries Communications team. AWS is powering the world’s leading financial services organizations, including Nasdaq, NYSE, S&P Global, JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, and Liberty Mutual. We are looking for an experienced candidate who will be responsible for managing high-impact, integrated media relations campaigns that showcase how leading financial institutions are innovating with AWS.

A successful candidate for this role should have in-depth media relations expertise, including but not limited to, securing top tier, technology, and trade press opportunities, driving influential stories from beginning to end, executing press strategy for AWS and industry events, and engaging traditional and non-traditional influencers, and working with customers to develop compelling narratives. This position requires an understanding of the intersection of technology and regulated industries to execute creative PR plans with high-impact results. The Financial Services lead will work across multiple teams, with sometimes competing stakeholders, resulting in a steady cadence of press coverage, engagement, and awareness of cloud computing’s transformational impact in the industry

Key job responsibilities

  • Creating and executing proactive, creative, and integrated PR campaigns that align with a pioneering technology business

  • Developing high-level media strategies that align resources and create a cadence of press opportunities that elevate the AWS story with reporters

  • Managing complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism

  • Managing relationships with reporters and influencers across the financial services industry

  • Developing stories with customers and partners about their journey to AWS and use of AWS services

  • Cultivating relationships with customer PR teams, top tier business, tech, and trade reporters

  • Crafting compelling story ideas, content, and messaging

  • Leading media programs around AWS-owned and industry/customer/partner events

  • Managing PR agencies

A day in the life

You will use your understanding of the intersection of technology and financial services to execute high-impact and creative PR plans. You will work across multiple teams, sometimes with competing stakeholders, to produce a steady cadence of coverage, influence conversations, press engagement, and awareness of cloud computing’s transformational impact across industries. In this role, you will have an opportunity to support creative programs that are worthy of a company that continues to pioneer the cloud.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

  • Experience working with high-level executives at large technology companies

  • Track record in communications or PR for high-profile enterprise software/systems companies

  • Outstanding attention to detail, understanding of technology, and ability to communicate complex topics effectively

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Strategic thinking, analytical and organizational skills, and excellence in tactical execution

  • Confidence to engage and build consensus with multiple stakeholder and functional leaders at various levels

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
