Our location in Scarborough, ME currently has an opportunity for a EHS Manager. In this role you will manage, develop, administer and implement programs designed to reduce risks and minimize losses associated with employee safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, environmental issues, and occupational health. Ensure compliance with all Corporate, Divisional, local, state and federal regulations pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage, develop, administer and implement programs designed to reduce risks and minimize losses associated with employee safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, environmental issues, and occupational health.

  • Ensure compliance with all Corporate, Divisional, local, state and federal regulations pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety.

  • Responsible for environmental management, monitoring and reporting for the plant.

  • Supervises and develops the safety and health departments, including selection/interviewing, performance appraisals, growth plan development, employee relations and administering/communicating all aspects of human resources in the department.

  • Develop and conduct safety and environmental training; provide resources to ensure completion of training. Interface with Corporate, Division, intra-plant and with community organizations/agencies regarding safety, environmental and health issues.

  • Initiate and submit the appropriate reports as needed/requested.

  • Conduct incident investigations and develop corrective actions.

  • Serve as the expert on all safety, environmental and health issues on plant/departmental projects, new equipment installations, product/supply changes, etc.; complete RCE reviews.

  • Identifies and quantifies EHS risks and their consequences relative to overall business goals and recommends appropriate actions. Recognizes and responds to changing trends, market conditions, regulatory legislation, etc., evaluates and integrates the information to define potential effect on the plant.

  • Responsible for initiation, prioritization and assignment of EHS projects within the facility.

  • Responsible for the overall EHS performance of the facility.

  • Coordinates the investigation of serious accidents.

  • Accountable for internal and external audits and inspections.

  • Accountable for the facility EHS plan, site EHS procedure accuracy, effectiveness and implementation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+years’ experience in environmental, health and safety administering a safety program.

  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience is required.

  • Project management experience

  • Working knowledge of governmental regulations and applicable standards such as EPA, OSHA, DOT and ISO.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in technical writing and/or writing SOPs

  • Must possess sound judgment and problem-solving skill, strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and consulting skills, good organizational and computer skills, consistent customer orientation and a multi-disciplinary function.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
