Assistant Controller

San Francisco; Hybrid

$Base + Bonus + Unlimited PTO + Great Benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, and third-party accounting.

  • Lead quarter-end close and financial statement preparation according to NCREIF and GAAP standards.

  • Conduct investment vehicle cash analysis.

  • Approve payables/expenditure workflow through NEXUS, Paymode-X/Kyriba, and MRI systems.

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries.

  • Consolidate and reconcile investment accounts for various funds, separate accounts, joint ventures, and co-investments.

  • Oversee monthly report preparation for investment vehicles.

  • Coordinate quarterly investor reporting packages and REIT maintenance tasks.

  • Maintain partner capital accounts and prepare ad hoc reports for investors.

  • Support audits, tax inquiries, and additional responsibilities including project collaboration, investor relations, legal agreement interpretation, and maintaining professionalism.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate, private equity, or financial services

  • Familiarity with partnership/fund accounting concepts is essential.

  • Ability to assess and apply accounting standards to significant transactions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to foster a positive team environment.

  • Highly organized, flexible, and diligent in follow-up tasks.

  • Preferred experience with MRI and Juniper Square.
