University Advancement (UA) supports the entire CMU community in building relationships with key constituencies and securing the financial resources the university needs to continue its ascent. As the division grows, we are seeking an associate director, Gift Planning Stewardship and Administration. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment.  Reporting to the senior director, Development and Gift Planning you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining dynamic and thoughtful stewardship programming for an assigned portfolio of some of the university's most generous and loyal donors.  You will work closely with individual donors and, in some cases, the donors' family members and advisors.  You will also serve as an integral member of the University Advancement/Office of Gift Planning team in the area of bequest administration and day to day oversight of estate and life income gifts by coordinating activities with gift officers throughout the university, with selected outside vendors, and with various university departments (i.e. Advancement Information Systems, Donor Relations, Office of General Counsel, Investment Office, Treasury) that intersect with such gifts.

Your core responsibilities will include: Working directly with select assigned donors to enhance their ongoing stewardship experience with the University, including travel for personal stewardship visits 6-8 times per year. Coordinating activities with other gift officers, college-based activities, Donor Relations, and within the Office of Gift Planning. Leading the reporting, communication, and administrative process across the university for all realized bequests and life income remainder distributions. Overseeing vendor relationships for administration and investment of life-income gifts. Actively identifying gift data integrity concerns; identifying and correcting flaws and inconsistencies in existing policies and practices. Other duties as assigned.

You should be able to travel domestically and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Qualifications A bachelor's degree is required. Three to five years of experience within a high performing fundraising operation, or estate planning within a legal or financial service setting, with direct interactions with donors/clients. Knowledge and interest in the rules, regulations, and practices related to gift planning, accounting, investment and gift administration is preferred. Familiarity with the principles of fundraising and/or estate settlement is preferred. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications. Familiarity with Salesforce, or other advancement/CRM databases is preferred.

Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and successfully complete a driver's license verification on an annual basis. Must complete the National Safety Council Defensive Driver Training once every three years Successful background check
