Overview

The Digital Service Delivery team is looking for a candidate who can help us lead a team, solve problems, plan and design the footprint of our systems, all while maintaining Mastercards standards and best practices.

Platform Architecture at Mastercard is a team of Technology Architects responsible for the analysis and design of the infrastructure framework to fit the application, platform or system needs in-line with Mastercard's operational standards and engineering principles. Our team is engaged from the beginning of the analysis and design phase to work with the application teams and other critical teams within Mastercard to ensure the completed infrastructure and application architecture aligns with Mastercards security, scalability, reliability, and availability standards. Your role will be to provide leadership and direction for the Infrastructure Design team in support of technologies and processes utilized to maintain and drive enhancements to our infrastructure.

Major Accountabilities for this role: Recruit, manage, develop, and retain Platform Architecture staff Successfully lead definition, development, and delivery of major cross-department initiatives with broad scope and long-term business implications. Partner with business to identify innovative solutions and drive strategic decisions. Develop business case in alignment with Mastercards objectives. Actively look for opportunities for innovation and creative problem-solving. Identifying process gaps, provide estimates for business solutions, define the initial scope/requirements of the project, and manage the scope during the life cycle of a project. Plan overall project scope as well as define scope for each phase and iteration to meet business needs/time-to-market needs. Ensure each project or effort is adequately staffed, trained, and managed and completed within approved manpower and budget guidelines. Ensure personnel have appropriate skills and behaviors; and effectively communicate performance results; as necessary Resolves complex infrastructure architecture issues, escalating unique or problematic areas as they arise May perform financial planning, forecasting, and budget tracking to reduce total cost of ownership and allocate resources efficiently Manages a team, conducts goal setting and performance appraisal processes, mentors and coaches top talent within own team Assists own team in gathering requirements, conducting infrastructural analysis, and producing robust designs that adhere to approved Mastercard technologies, and ensuring the design meets all Mastercard's technology and security policies Responsible for meeting with peers, engineers, application team(s) and user(s), to determine that all the high-level requirements have been met Provide oversight to the generation of products such as Technical Architecture Documents, technical memos, logical flows, and models to keep the users, architects, and engineers constantly up to date and in agreement on the architecture and infrastructure layout of an application, system, or platform Responsible for ensuring that all architectural products and products with architectural input are maintained in the most current state and never allowed to become obsolete Provides oversight to resolve internet architectural and operational problems impacting infrastructure and product availability, as well as performance, globally Leads and collaborates to achieve the definition of new standards Responsible for researching and evaluating new technology for possible deployment in Mastercards internet infrastructure May assume lead and total accountability for ongoing regional projects as assigned; including responsibility for planning; time and cost control; resource utilization and implementation May contribute to incident/problem d agnosis and root cause analysis May provide input into performance tuning; capacity planning and configuration management for Mastercard components

Experiences Experience partnering with internal customers to support project completion, performing system and platform initiatives, and providing technical advice to the project team Experience leading a major work stream or multiple smaller work streams for a large domain initiative, often providing technical guidance and advice to project team members Experience engaging with the broader technical community to anticipate developments in innovation, often evaluating new solutions and recommending future business network requirements Experience leading continuous process improvement initiatives and automation activities for operational and financial value by leveraging tools and technologies Opportunity to perform technical analysis of complex systems Experience in establishing well-defined and globally consistent standards by exploring new tools and technologies

Education (preferred): Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences, or Information Systems, or equivalent combination of experience and formal education

All About You Experienced in managing, coaching, and guiding high-performing operations teams both technically and professionally preferred Motivated, creative, self-directed, and have a desire to thrive Demonstrate Mastercard core competencies and proven ability to embody the Mastercard Way Advanced knowledge of Web application architecture and project delivery Advanced knowledge of network and operating system principles Vast knowledge of middleware technologies (Web Servers, Application Servers, Queue Managers, Messaging, Caching) Working knowledge of how the Java Virtual Machine works, how Garbage collection works Working knowledge of load balancers and web application firewalls Working knowledge of Database technologies Working knowledge of cloud technologies Solid knowledge of techniques or methodologies to achieve non-functional requirements like reliability, availability, resilience, performance, security Working knowledge of Role Based Access Control, Authentication and Authorization mechanisms Proficient in root cause analysis and troubleshooting

Skills/Abilities: Displays leadership and initiative, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing efforts Ability to lead through metrics Detail-oriented and customer obsessed, constantly focusing on customer needs and providing overall business or technical project planning for product enhancements Ability to pick up new technologies at a quick pace and learn on-the-go Ability and knowledge to assist in policy development and demonstrate knowledge of the business organizational strategy Ability to establish plans, coach co-workers and demonstrate adaptability along with strong verbal and written communication skills Displays excellent collaborative skills with cross-functional teams
