Robert Half is seeking a Medical Records Support Specialist. As the Medical Records Support Specialist, this person will provide daily administrative support functions to the IMR and Evaluation Services areas. This includes but is not limited to Medical Record Management and assigned administrative services. Job duties are to be completed in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with corporate policy.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Medical Record Management

• IMR Services: Intake, organize, and index medical record case files:

o Verify medical record case files for the claimant/member/patient being reviewed.

o Organize the medical record case file per corporate policy, including removal of duplicate or non-material documentation in preparation of case file indexing.

o Save the medical record case file to the CoreVisory document management system and assign accurate document coding per the medical record case file type.

o As applicable, per the service type being requested, provide an index of the medical record case file, consistent with corporate policy.

o As applicable, perform scanning, printing and mailing functions for medical record case files.

• Evaluation Services: Intake and organize medical record case files:

o Verify medical record case files are for the claimant/member/patient being reviewed.

o Organize the medical record case file, including the removal of duplicate or non-material documentation, per corporate policy.

o Save the medical record case files to the CoreVisory document management system and assign accurate document coding per the medical record case file type.

o As applicable, perform scanning, printing and mailing functions for medical record case files.

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proficient in medical terminology, including medical diagnosis(es) and medical specialty types

• At least one (1) year of experience working in a related area of medical record management, including but not limited to medical record scanning, digitizing, preparation, etc.

• At least three (3) years of experience in general or medical office responsibilities and procedures

• Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team structure

• Detail-oriented

• Ability to work autonomously, as well as within a team structure

• Proficient in MS Word, PDF, Nuance, or the equivalent

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to multi-task

• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, telephone systems, copiers, scanners, facsimile machines

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

• Knowledge of medical terminology/insurance terminology/ability to identify different types of medical documents.

Preferred Skills and Additional Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience in a medical related setting.

Normal office environment. Stressful conditions may arise when workload becomes more demanding than normal. The physical requirements of the job are considered Sedentary Work per the U.S. Department of Labor, which is work involving the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
