Job Summary The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine diagnostic procedures in the hospital in accordance with all state and NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations, and utilizing an understanding of principles of growth and development to provide the physician with diagnostic images to identify and/or plan appropriate treatment of the patient’s condition. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist maintains and operates cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear radiologic studies in adherence to professional and department protocols. EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a two year nuclear medicine technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine, or a graduate of a one year nuclear medicine technology training program preceded by graduation from a Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited college or university. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Must maintain registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technologist's Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT (R),(N)) or provide proof of eligibility to become registered.
