Ameriprise Financial Director, Planning & Administration (R24_0000000201) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

This position provides an opportunity to work within the office of the Executive Vice President, Wealth Management Solutions (WMS), reporting to the VP of Strategic Relationship Management and WMS Operating Office. Typical responsibilities include business planning, goal setting, financial management, document creation, department communications and overall oversight of the office to proactively drive the business unit and Advice & Wealth Management agenda. Responsibilities: Serve as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders, exercising strong interpersonal skills and serving as a steward for WMS across the organization Accountable for general business management activities including annual business unit planning, budget/expense management and monitoring of progress against operational, financial, and strategic objectives and goals Prioritize, coordinate, and facilitate communication between executives and among the various departments Draft and edit correspondence, presentations, and other documents on behalf of executives Take ownership to ensure strong materials and agendas for a variety of meetings such as regular business line reviews, Leadership Team meetings, Town Halls, Huddles, staff meetings, etc. Ensure logistical arrangements are in place such as audio/visual/conference room requirements Attend meetings, take notes, and distribute relevant documentation as needed Proactively monitor future business unit engagements and needs for the EVP office to ensure timely preparation, etc Develop fluency in the group's key strategic priorities Periodically lead large-scale initiatives or other ad hoc requests to completion Drive clarity across functional groups in a complex and ambiguous environment Required Qualifications: 7+ years professional work experience in a related field Bachelor's degree in relevant field Above average knowledge of wealth management, investment products and advisory programs Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, along with the demonstrated ability to work cross-organizationally with groups such as the WMS leadership team, across the business lines and across all corporate functions/partners (Finance, Human Resources, General Counsel's Office, Corporate Communications, Marketing, etc.) Strong process and project management skills, including the ability to independently disaggregate problems into defined work plans to meet deadlines Demonstrate self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and with high attention to quality and accuracy Possess superior Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills with proven ability to translate concept into an executive ready document Strong analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze data and develop compelling solutions and/or recommendations Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with undefined processes, tight deadlines, and frequently changing priorities Ability to learn quickly and understand complex business concepts Ability to anticipate needs and use independent judgment given limited availability of leader Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when accessing and handling sensitive information
