Reports to: Leader, Category Solutions & Retail Innovation

Location: Markham, Ontario

What will you do

The Senior Category Solutions Manager is responsible for leading category expertise with our customers through the development and execution of strategic category management plans. You will shape and lead dynamic shopper and category-focused recommendations that improve physical availability, build customer value and drive growth across assigned categories, in alignment with broader company and customer initiatives. The successful candidate will support all aspects of enterprise Category Solutions tools and work with internal partners to lead category portfolio design recommendations.

This role will work closely with cross functional partners in Sales Strategy, Customer Development and Squad to support the achievement of Company business plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading category reviews, leveraging shopper insights, category insights and trends to inform tactical opportunities and strategic direction.

  • Influencing retailers to optimize physical & digital shelves through robust, data driven recommendations.

  • Providing thought leadership on critical category/shopper design

  • Shaping merchandising recommendations using complex data & insights inclusive of new product innovation, merchandising initiatives, and providing assessment of risks/opportunities.

  • Applying insight based “Best In Class Merchandising Principles” to improve physical availability

  • Identifying, quantifying, tracking and communicating results against key priorities and shelf metrics, including Share of Shelf, Shelf Merchandising Compliance, OSA and MSL in consultation with Customer Strategy, Marketing, Deliver, Sales and the Perfect Store teams.

  • Champion category and customer insights, shopper knowledge and macro global trends with internal colleagues to build retailer-specific category initiatives.

  • Collaborating with customer teams and market units to lead and craft shopper, retail and category-focused growth driving opportunities, as part of business planning process

  • Partner with US and Global Category & Shopper Insight teams to deepen category expertise and apply with local colleagues or retailers.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a university degree is required.

  • Prior experience in direct customer sales, business analytics, and/or customer marketing.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop sophisticated reports and analyze data to develop conclusions.

  • Strong business and financial acumen, with proven ability to effectively use syndicated data resources, and financial/profitability metrics to derive recommendations.

  • Highly effective influencing skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

  • Demonstrate effective communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to tailor skills and presentation style to a variety of key decision makers.

  • Ability to implement, execute and draw conclusions from a variety of customer, shopper and category studies.

  • Ability to prioritize and to lead multiple priorities successfully under tight timelines

  • High intellectual curiosity on broader business and market/industry trends.

  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed environment where priorities change rapidly and high complexity is evident.

  • Strong ability to lead through ambiguity, shape new outcomes and drive action

  • In-depth computer skills, with ability to build, manipulate, revise and modify data, documents, presentations and spreadsheets,

  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • An MBA or a Specialization in Business Administration, Marketing is an asset.

  • Previous experience working within beauty, cosmetic/personal care or OTC brands is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of syndicated data (eg: Nielsen) or retailer data (eg: LDIA, Retail Link) preferred
