Horizon Behavioral Health CNA / DSP / Residential Technician in Lynchburg, Virginia

Shifts Available

  • Day Shift = 3 shifts per week, 12.5 hours per shift
  • Night Shift = 3 shifts per week, 12.5 hours per shift
  • Shift differential available for nights and weekends

Position Summary

$1,000 hiring bonus - this position offers a $1,000 hiring bonus, with $500 paid upon successful completion of hiring requirements, and the balance of $500 paid at 12 months with satisfactory job performance. The hiring bonus is limited to new hires only, or otherwise individuals not having been employed with Horizon up to 1 year from the date the application is received.

Providing care for our small community of individuals with intellectual disabilities during this time depends on the best care and the safest practices. We are committed to the wellbeing and safety of all individuals in our community, employees and clients alike. All of our health professionals providing direct care are receiving a "health check" daily upon arriving on-site, and we are following all guidelines set forth related to Covid health and safety procedures.

The Residential Technician focuses on supporting the individual's progress toward goals that are identified as meaningful by individuals and their support resources, as well as provide supports for the overall health and safety of all of the individuals. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Direct Support Provider (DSP) skills are highly desired!

Required Education and Experience

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to that of a high school graduate are required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required.
  • CNA certificate is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and ability to utilize personal protective equipment in a manner that is compliant with standard precautions and safety expectations; Ability to safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance; Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal deescalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed; Ability to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous especially to consumers.
