Amazon Architectural Manager, Design & Construction in Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Description

We are Amazon’s EU Design & Construction team, and we are responsible for the construction of Amazon’s European building infrastructure such as Fulfillment Centers, Cross Dock and last mile delivery stations, and also refurbishments of existing infrastructure.

We now require an experienced Architect (Architectural Manager) to support us with the growth of our European network. You will be responsible for the definition and improvement of all architectural aspects we design and implement to our buildings.

We require holistic expertise to advise to internal and external teams, and we wish to improve and optimize the design, construction and operation of these subjects.

You will be part of the EU Engineering Services team, who are delivering all parts of our buildings, including mechanical handling equipment and Amazon Robotics equipment. You will be our Subject Matter Expert for Architectural topics, and the link between the Construction team, which manage ongoing projects on the ground, the Preconstruction and Feasibility team which are setting these projects up, the Sustainability team and the Worldwide Design team which issue the prototype templates.

You will review and consult templates and execution designs and concepts, sustainability solutions and bring in improvements including sustainability step changes. You will also support us with BIM implementation and improvement of our asset documentation. And there will be countless other things.

This opportunity combines strong construction engineering, planning, project management, design review and contract management capabilities. We require a talent with proven track record in permitting, design and engineering, and project management.

The role will be based in the Luxembourg with 20% of time traveling either domestically or to other EMEA countries.

Key job responsibilities

· Review, challenge and improve building design and specs for template prototypes and new- built or refurbishment projects

· Lead technical program and sustainability reviews and drive schedule acceleration, cost savings, standardization.

· Define and implement strategies for data collection and design review process

· Collect and sync feedback from developer, GCs and Consultants and internal stakeholders

· Assist Preconstruction and Construction Managers during design reviews, GC procurement, value

engineering, tender reviews

· Deep dive on technical details and lead problem resolution on a need basis

Basic Qualifications

  • University Degree, B.S. or Master, in Architecture

  • Experienced in execution, design or prototyping experience and holistic design expertise

  • Proven technical leadership experience in development and implementation of large scale, complex projects.

  • Excellent working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, BIM360, Navisworks, MS Project and related software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience within field execution, i.e. with General Contractors.

  • Construction contract and designer contract legal experience, Blue Book, FIDIC, Code law contracts.

  • Cost Management or Quantity Surveying experience.

  • Participation during a previous new FC Launch at Amazon in any role would be desired.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 20% across projects in Europe and MENA.

  • German, French, Polish, Arabic are considered preferred qualification.
