Position Summary
AutoZone is looking for a performance test engineer to be part of their growing quality engineering team. This position is responsible to improve the reliability of software applications and IT systems. They also work to improve the performance of these applications and systems by finding better ways to develop the product and fixing existing issues. This position is responsible for performance testing and certifying applications before deploying them to production.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing business requirement specification and design documentation with efficient Performance engineering strategies converting it into a performance test plan with a detailed test approach, work plan, and effort estimation
Create performance test scripts, and performance test data and validate the performance test environment
Establish a performance monitoring solution in a performance test environment
Execute all the performance tests in scope
Analyze test results and work with Developers and Engineers to perform bug fixes.
Provide technical assistance to improve system performance, capacity, reliability, and scalability.
Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and suggest corrective actions.
Identify performance bottlenecks and report findings to the development and management team
Performance test script maintenance and load model review periodically
Manage multiple deadlines and multiple projects effectively through a combination of business and technical skills
Responsible for defining code specifications and how systems will be constructed
Responsible for continuously conducting chaos testing on the whole system
Understand the identified production issue and design a performance test scenario to replicate in lower/performance testing environments
Requirements
Analyze the entire technology development process and the final product. Explore ways to improve performance based on the criteria established before the start of development. Analyze even minor details of each system and application to determine how to best make improvements.
A systems thinker, able to move fluidly between high-level abstract thinking and detail-oriented implementation, open-minded to new ideas, approaches, and technologies
A data and fact-driven decision-maker, with an ability to make quick decisions under uncertainty when necessary; able to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and organizational structures/strategies
A naturally inquisitive self-starter, requiring only small pieces to the puzzle, across many technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and designs to a broad range of people.
Understanding of chaos engineering, microservices, operating system, and cloud-native.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent required
3 to 8 Years of performance testing experience
Hands-on experience in the Performance Center, JMeter, BlazeMeter, DynaTrace, Matlock, PCF
Proficient in System Monitoring (CPU, Memory, I/O, and Network Utilization) Hands-on experience with Tomcat/Apache, Web Services, Database (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres), GCP, Chaos testing tools
Experience running performance tests against cloud-based services
Solid understanding of APIs and experience in creating and measuring performance for Web Services
Knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows, Java, MS SQL, C, C++, Python, GoScript, Greenplum, ATG, QT4, Oracle, Excel macros, APIGEE, PingIdentity, Kafka, TCP/IP, Networking and LAN monitoring.
