Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift

Job Description

This is a 3rd Shift position.

Job Overview: The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.

Must possess a Journeyman’s Certificate or 8 years’ experience in the following four (4) areas and be able to perform all these categories:

  • Industrial Manufacturing Environment performing maintenance technician activities/tasks

  • Welding – pipe fitting and rigging preferred

  • Hydraulic pneumatic systems

  • Fabricating

Perform from verbal and written instructions, plans, schedules, trouble shoot, blueprints, diagrams, etc.

Perform the full range of mechanical and electrical maintenance required to design, plan, install, modify, check, test, evaluates, diagnose, replace, weld and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair to all factory and office equipment and systems. This includes positioning in place, aligning, overhauling, fabricating, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance.

Be proficient at rigging, shoring, welding, brazing, hydraulic reconditioning pneumatics and control mechanisms, fabricating, designing, building, replacing/repairing parts and equipment, surveying for placement and leveling of equipment.

Set up and operate various maintenance equipment such as welders, lathes, grinders, saws, drills, etc.

Read detailed working drawings and machine blueprints, including orthographic projection auxiliary and sectional views, threads, fasteners and weld symbols.

Perform fundamental welding, including MIG and TIG, includes: Safe operation, proper procedures used for carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel welds.

Repair and maintain mechanical power transmissions, including drive trains, chain-driven and gravity conveyors, speed reducers, bearing and lubrication of all parts.

Maintain current technical knowledge relevant to job as required.

Perform duties and responsibilities of equal and lower classified maintenance positions.

Order necessary equipment, parts and supplies.

Maintain required records.

Notify Supervisor of significant problems or delays.

Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety policies and practices and wear protective equipment as required.

Required Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required

Millwright and/or Machine Repair Journeyman card or 8 years’ experience in the following four (4) areas:

  • Industrial Manufacturing Environment performing maintenance technician activities/tasks

  • Welding

  • Hydraulic systems - pneumatic

  • Fabricating

  • Welding – pipe fittings
