Job Summary and Qualifications

Assists in managing claims against the facility, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering components of the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and complying with The Joint Commission (TJC) Risk Management Standards, with the objective of controlling and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the facility.

· Assists with investigations of incidents that could lead to professional/general liability claims; makes adjustments to bills as needed and approves payment for lost items.

· Works with patients/families and visitors where appropriate to resolve outstanding issues within the guidelines approved by facility administration.

· Assists Risk Manager and Assistant Risk Manager in working to ensure compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, State and Federal Laws/Regulations, and TJC Standards.

· Maintains all aspects of the Record Retention Program to include scheduling and conducting quarterly meetings, managing Iron Mountain reports and records destruction schedules, and education and oversight of records retention department liaisons.

· Performs other related functions as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.

· 3 to 5 years related clinical or risk experience, paralegal experience a plus

· Demonstrated success and abilities in leadership, achieving results, communications, customer service and health care management. Excellent computer and data management skills; Experience with Medi-tech a plus.

· Risk Management Certification or ability to complete within 24 months preferred
