Hightowers Petroleum Company, Inc Assistant Controller in Franklin, Ohio

Hightowers Petroleum Co. is seeking an Assistant Controller who will assist in the oversight of accounting activities of the company. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross functionally with other departments. The Assistant Controller must be experienced in general accounting practices including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.  

 

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering relevant data and providing analysis
  • Work with finance and accounting leadership to analyze financial data and trends and identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as required by management.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support documentation as required.
  • Work closely with accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial expertise and support for various projects and initiatives.

     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or relevant certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting including AP/AR, and Sales Tax.  Experience with motor fuel tax a plus.
  • 3-5 years supervision experience 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Must be proficient in accounting/financial software, CRM, ERP systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, quality and excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
