POSITION PROFILE

The controls technician will monitor, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues while working directly with maintenance, engineering, and operators. Drive continuous improvement opportunities on our production lines to increase safety, productivity, and quality. Expectation to troubleshoot servo drives, analog and digital sensors, PLCs, HMIs, safety devices, and programmable software. Individual must be able to work in a team based environment with minimal supervision.

  • Performs all their duties in an open and objective manner, utilizing a “best practice” mindset to drive continuous improvement in all job-related functions

  • Manage SCADA type devices

  • Assist engineering in design, modification, and implementation of new equipment

  • Make recommendations for continual process, cost and efficiency improvements.

  • Ability to work with OEM telephone technical support to trouble shoot issues

Required Skills

  • Ability to read, understand, and modify electrical schematics

  • Understanding of CODESYS preferred

  • Strong computer skills

  • Self-motivated and highly organized with strong time management skills

  • Ability to work in an often fast paced, hectic, and demanding environment

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with machine level device communications (profibus, Modbus, or similar)

  • Experience with wood working equipment from Homag, Biesse, IMA a plus

EDUCATION

Associates Degree or equivalent practical knowledge in Electronics Technology, Industrial Technology, or Automation
