GDIT Summer Internship Program – Summer 2024 Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Internship

How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own

Our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)Internship is designed to make a direct impact on a broad variety of projects and help to co-create and deliver successful solutions to GDIT’s clients. As an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)Intern, you’ll play a key part in supporting Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)projects that will support our company's goal and have a lasting impact on our clients.

A Day in the Life

  • Assist in supplying Health and Safety resources for shipyard personnel working on vessels under the general direction of the company Safety Officers. Experience in ship repair and shipyard competent certifications preferred.

  • Assist in various safety training sessions and safety orientation.

  • Review information prior to job start to ready site and prepare assigned employees to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely

  • Assist in the preparation of written safety and environmental procedures for each project

  • Coordinate, schedule and conduct environmental, health and inspections, audits, and surveillances as directed by the Safety Officer

  • Assist with maintaining all required environmental, health and safety records and documentation

  • Coordinate collection and removal of all HAZMAT

The Must-Haves

  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in Marine Engineering, Transportation, or Environmental Engineering/Safety, or related discipline from a United States-based college or university.

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams)

  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
