Job Description

A Manual Machinist operates various manual machine tools to fabricate precision parts and components according to technical drawings and specifications. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce parts within specified tolerances.

The Manual Machinist is responsible for interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tools, measuring and inspecting finished products, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

1. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine machining operations and specifications.

2. Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.

3. Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments for each job.

4. Adjust machine settings to control factors such as speed, feed, and depth of cut.

5. Machine and grind parts to specified dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

6. Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to production specifications and quality standards.

7. Inspect finished parts for defects, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.

8. Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool replacement.

9. Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed.

Skills and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining preferred.

Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

Hands-on experience with manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.

Knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and best practices.

Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform accurate measurements using precision instruments.

Attention to detail and quality with a focus on producing precise parts. null
